Doing Less but Achieving More #SoftLifeGoals

We live in a culture that praises busyness. We’ve all felt it — that pressure to always be on the go, always checking off boxes, and always taking on more. The world seems to value how much we can do rather than how well we do it. But here's the thing: just because you're doing a lot doesn't mean you're getting a lot done.

Many of us, myself included, have been trapped in this cycle of trying to balance everything. We take on project after project, saying yes to every opportunity, every invitation, every demand. But let’s be real for a second: balancing everything often leads to dropping more balls than we care to admit. It’s exhausting, and instead of feeling accomplished, we feel like we’re constantly falling short.

I’ve felt that weight. I’ve lived in the chaos of trying to do it all, thinking that if I didn’t, I wasn’t living up to my potential. But here’s the truth: doing more isn’t the same as achieving more.

And that’s where the concept of living a soft life comes in. Now, I know some people hear the words "soft life" and immediately think it means laziness, a lack of ambition, or giving up on your goals. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Living a soft life isn’t about doing nothing — it’s about doing less of what drains you, what distracts you, and what doesn’t serve your peace, so you can do more of what truly matters.

Imagine this: Instead of waking up with a mile-long to-do list, you start your day by asking yourself, What really matters today? You focus your energy on a few key priorities instead of stretching yourself thin across everything. It’s about cutting out the noise and being intentional with your time, your energy, and your focus.

But let’s talk about the relatable mess that we all struggle with — the constant pull between wanting to do everything and realizing that doing everything is exactly what’s holding us back. We’ve all been there, caught between trying to balance work, relationships, personal growth, and a hundred other things. And if you’re like me, you’ve learned the hard way that balance doesn’t exist when you’re trying to carry it all.

It’s time to shift our mindset. It’s time to prioritize peace over perfection. Perfection is a myth, and it’s one that keeps us trapped in a cycle of overcommitment and overwhelm. Choosing peace, on the other hand, means letting go of the need to do it all and instead focusing on what actually moves the needle in our lives.

Here’s the beauty of living a soft life: when you do less of what doesn’t matter, you free yourself up to achieve more of what does. It’s not about slowing down to a crawl — it’s about finding the right pace for your life, one where you can be fully present, fully engaged, and fully yourself.

So, how do we get there? How do we start doing less but achieving more?

Call to Action:

  1. Set Intentional Boundaries: Start by looking at your daily commitments and ask yourself, Do these serve my peace? If the answer is no, it’s time to set boundaries. Protect your time, your energy, and your mental space by saying no to the things that don’t align with your purpose.
  2. Prioritize What Matters: Each day, focus on two or three key priorities. Let go of the need to complete an endless list of tasks. Instead, ask yourself, What can I do today that will truly make an impact? This shift in focus will help you accomplish more with less stress.
  3. Embrace the Mess: Life is never going to be perfectly balanced, and that’s okay. Embrace the messiness of growth, knowing that some days you won’t get everything done. And guess what? That’s perfectly fine. Progress over perfection, always.
  4. Choose Peace Daily: Make it a daily practice to check in with yourself. When things start to feel overwhelming, stop and ask, Am I prioritizing peace right now? If not, adjust. Shift your focus. Give yourself permission to recalibrate and move forward with intention.

As you begin to practice these shifts, you’ll notice something magical: You’ll feel more in control, more empowered, and more at peace with where you’re headed. And as a result, you’ll start to achieve more because you’ll be operating from a place of clarity, not chaos.

So, the next time you feel the pressure to do more, remember this: Doing less doesn’t mean you’re falling behind. It means you’re clearing the path to get where you want to go — with more purpose, more peace, and more progress.

Let’s make peace our priority. Let’s embrace the beauty of doing less, so we can finally achieve more.
